IMMUNIZATIONS

California schools are required to check immunization records for all new student admissions at transitional kindergarten (TK)/Kindergarten through 12th grade and all students advancing to 7th grade before entry. Parents must show their child's immunization record as proof of immunization. All students will be required to comply with the immunization requirements of Health and Safety Code section 120335, unless the student provides the district with a medical exemption through the CAIR-ME system. (Since January 1, 2021 all new medical exemptions for school and child care entry must be issued through CAIR-ME). Medical exemptions can only be issued by MDs or DOs licensed in California and must meet applicable Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) criteria.

VACCINATION LAW INFORMATION

Under California law, SB277, which went into effect on January 1, 2016, exemptions based on personal beliefs including religious beliefs, will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into child care or school in California. Most families will not be affected by the new law because their children have received all required vaccinations. Personal beliefs exemptions on file for a child already attending child care or school will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint at kindergarten (including transitional kindergarten) or 7th grade. COVID-19 GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS

Current guidelines for students who feel symptomatic and later test positive for COVID-19. Please note - these are recommended actions from the California Department of Public Health.

RESPIRATORY VIRUSES - COVID, FLU, RSV

Students who have tested positive for respiratory viruses are recommended to pay close attention to their symptoms and stay home when they have a fever and/or feel ill. Students may return to school when they start to feel better, meaning that if symptoms are mild and improving, and they have not had a fever for a full day (24 hours) without the use of fever reducing medication. All students who have respiratory viruses should wear a mask around others indoors for 5 days from when fever free or after symptoms have started improving.
