Parent Organizations
Parent involvement is most welcome at Healdsburg High School. Please call the school (431-3420) if there is any way you wish to be involved.
PARENT INFORMATION NETWORK (PIN)
The Parent Information Network provides information to parents about all school activities. It is a group of parents dedicated to improving communication between the Healdsburg schools and the parent community. It formed in the spring of 2002 and, though it is a general community group, the initial emphasis is on the High School. Not only do parents need to work together on the various projects going on at the High School that require major parent involvement, but they need to hear about student activities in order to understand what's going on in the school. The school produces a Weekly Parent Bulletin via e-mail for subscribing parents.
SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL
Site Council is an organization of parents, school staff, and students whose primary function is to assist and guide the school in developing its "Single Plan for Student Achievement". SSC also oversees supplemental funds to improve the educational program. Parents and students are elected to the Council at the beginning of every school year. If you are interested in becoming a site council representative please contact the main office.
GRADUATION CELEBRATION
This is a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to providing an alcohol, drug and tobacco free graduation party for all eligible Seniors. The Class of 2010 will be heading to Scandia immediately following graduation on June 4. Parents are needed to assist in advance with invitations, publicity, prizes, and fund raising -- these are great jobs for parents of Seniors. On the day of event help is needed decorating at Scandia, checking the Seniors in at Rec Park, and working at the party preparing food, overseeing games, doling out prizes, caretaking possessions, and eventually cleaning up. Graduation is a big day for our Seniors, and the more parents that become involved, the more incredible an event we can create.
Planning meetings take place on the first Tuesday of the month. Look for notices in the Weekly Parent Bulletin or Dalene Whitlock (dwhitlock@w-trans.com or 431-8528) for more information. Contact Cheryle Belli at c-belli@comcast.net to volunteer to help with the party.
