Ways You Can HelpAs we
approach the start of the new school year, here are some reminders about
how parents and other interested members of the community can be
involved in and support our children:
Healdsburg High Boosters
The Boosters are an enthusiastic and energetic group of parents and
other volunteers that help fund the “extras” for high school athletes.
In addition to sales of food and Boosters Greyhound gear at football
games, the Boosters will host their annual golf tournament on Sunday,
October 2 at Tayman Park golf course. Both activities offer ample
opportunity for volunteering or sponsorship. To volunteer, donate,
sponsor or for more information, contact Wayne or Pauline Rogers at
433-1820.
School Sites
Each school site needs volunteers to help in a variety of ways. There is
a volunteer job for you, no matter how much (or how little) time you may
have to spare. Contact the school office where you wish to volunteer to
find out how you can help.
eScrip
If you want to help out Healdsburg schools, but cannot afford the time
or money to volunteer or make a donation, eScrip is for you. And, it is
even for people that do volunteer and donate because it is easy, free
and really works!
I have been signed up with eScrip from the beginning—I used to buy the
paper store certificates way back in the “old days” of paper scrip. Now,
I just register my Safeway club card with eScrip every September at a
Back to School night.
In addition to registering my Safeway club card, I also registered my
Macy’s card and my major credit cards. Why do I register all these
cards? Because by registering them, each time I use them a percentage of
what I spend is donated to Healdsburg schools. At Safeway, the
percentage donated by the store increases as spending increases.
Right now I have the eScrip “earnings” split between Healdsburg Junior
High and Graduation Celebration. I recently received a statement of my
“earnings” for the last quarter and it was over $170. This is money
donated by the stores I shop at and the credit cards I use to our
schools. It’s like the schools get paid whenever I shop!
To sign up or renew your Safeway club card with eScrip, look for the
eScrip clipboards at your child’s Back to School night or ask at the
office on a school day. Renew your Safeway club card or sign up online
www.escrip.com. Or, call Paula
Wurlitzer art 433-9386 for more information.
