Issue 64
Fitch Mountain Design To Be Decided Tonight Tonight the Fitch Mountain Design committee will present to the Board of Trustees their current recommendation for the layout of the new Fitch Mountain Elementary School. The School Board meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Healdsburg City Hall Council Chambers at 401 Grove St., Healdsburg. The Board will review their schematic and elevation drawings and then vote on whether or not to accept them. The design committee, made up of teachers, parents, other staff, and administrators, has been meeting since October and now it is time to share with the Board and general public the outcome of those meetings. The committee developed ‘education specs’ that included all the desired components of the school. This was adopted by the Board last December. Then the committee went to work on the detailed layout of the buildings. The committee looked at digital photos of many schools and other buildings to get the right look for Healdsburg. The committee also looked at many ways to layout the fields and playgrounds. The architects were able to take all of this input to draw many different designs for consideration. Now the plan is final and the committee wants to share it with the community. We strongly urge you to attend the meeting to see what is being presented … this is your opportunity to see first-hand what the committee is recommending.
