A Year of Great Accomplishments
We are proud to acknowledge several special accomplishments this year:
• Nearly $500,000 was given out to Healdsburg High School graduates in the
form of scholarships for continued education. These consisted of federal,
state and many local scholarships. Healdsburg continues to lead the county
in scholarship funding. Congratulations to the winners and a special thank
you to the many local scholarship providers!
• We passed two extraordinary bond measures assuring rebuilding of Fitch
Mountain School, the reconstruction of the high school play field, and
other much needed improvements. The play field construction is beginning
now with the relocation of buildings currently occupying the new
construction grounds.
• Three new academic programs were started this year – Open Court, an
elementary language arts program , McGraw Hill Mathematics K-2 and
California Harcourt Math 3-6. Many years of work have gone into
researching, approving and implementing these new state-of-the-art
programs.
• The Healdsburg Education Foundation announced a new Maxi-Grant
opportunity for innovations in the fields of computer and networking
technology, math and science for girls, and English as a second language.
Grants ranging from $5000 - $20,000 will be available annually thanks to
the generosity of the Crabb-Gresseschi Foundation.
School Office Hours During the Summer
The 3 elementary school offices will close at the end of the day on June
20 and reopen on Aug. 12. The High School office will be open until June
27 and will reopen on Aug. 5. The Junior High office will be open until
June 25 and will reopen on Aug. 8.
The school district office will be moving in mid-July in preparation for
work to begin on the high school fields. The space that the district
office now occupies will become part of the new high school track.
District office personnel will move temporarily into 4 portable buildings
to be located in the fenced in parking lot south of the high school. These
offices will be open all summer except the following days – June 27, June
30-July 4, July 18, Aug. 1, and Aug. 15.
