Establishment of Bus Routes |

2. Bus routes will be established only along paved city streets, state and county roads where safe turnaround areas are located. Buses shall not be operated on private streets or roads. 3. Bus stops will be established under the direction of the District Bus Supervisor subject to approval of the Superintendent of Schools, and a list of these authorized stops shall be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools for review and approval by the Board of Education in accordance with Section 14268 of Title V of the California Administrative code. Drivers will not be permitted to load or unload pupils at other than authorized bus stops. Students may not change loading or unloading stations without Board approval. 4. Authorized bus stops shall be located at convenient intervals and locations where pupils can be loaded and unloaded and where students can await arrival of buses with the utmost safety permitted by traffic conditions. Bus stops on heavily traveled roads will be designated, whenever possible, so as to avoid the necessity of students crossing the road in connection with bus loading and unloading. 5. The number of bus stops on each trip shall be limited so as to enable buses to maintain reasonable average speed. 6. The District Bus Supervisor is required to notify the Assistant Superintendent and receive approval before any additional routes or extensions of existing routes are established. 7. The Board shall authorize the use of buses for properly supervised educational field trips. The Superintendent shall be responsible for establishing and maintaining rules and regulations regarding these field trips. Bus routes and stops shall be established in a manner to serve the greatest number of students while covering the shortest possible distance. The last stops for picking up students in route to school shall be established at approximately the following distances from the school attendance measured by a straight line or air line basis. a. For K-6 elementary school routes -- Approx. 1.00 miles
